Our take
What does For a Kiss smell like?
IKKS launched For a Kiss in 2012 as an eau de toilette in its line for teenage girls. The brand itself describes it as fruity, built on citrus and toffee apple. The opening is simple and sunny, with juicy mandarin and orange and no bitterness. Then the caramelized apple takes over, joined by a fresh peony that lightens the sugar. This isn't a tart green apple. It's the fairground kind with its shell of red sugar. The base stays light. White musk, cedar and apple tree wood give the impression of clean laundry. Nina Ricci's Nina, released in 2006, made the candy apple theme famous. For a Kiss offers a lighter, less praline-heavy take for a younger crowd. Retailers don't all agree on the pyramid, which points to rather vague communication from the brand.
