What does La Vie est Belle Intensément smell like?
Lancôme launched La Vie est Belle Intensément in 2020, eight years after the original. The house kept the structure of its big hit but pushed it toward red fruit and resins. It opens with tart raspberry, sharpened by bergamot and pink pepper. The heart brings together sambac jasmine, orange blossom and heliotrope, with a powdery almond softness. The real change happens in the base. Benzoin, sandalwood, patchouli and vanilla build a darker and more resinous floor than the original's praline. The sugar is still very much there, but it smells less like cotton candy. Next to La Vie est Belle it feels more grown-up. Next to Yves Saint Laurent's Black Opium it keeps a much clearer floral side. The raspberry stays noticeable long after the first hour. It is what gives the perfume its color.
When to wear it
A winter evening perfume that quickly fills a closed room. One spray on the back of the neck, no more.
