Our take
What does Miracle Forever smell like?
Lancôme released Miracle Forever in 2006, six years after Miracle. Olivier Polge and Dominique Ropion composed this vanilla oriental eau de parfum. The bottle reuses the original’s shape with a plum-colored liquid, and model Shalom Harlow fronted a campaign set in a city at night. The opening blends peony, star anise and black currant buds. Anise adds a candy coolness and the currant a green edge. The heart rests on an almond blossom accord surrounded by heliotrope, mimosa and lily of the valley. It is soft and powdery, with a marzipan side that recalls a pastry shop. The base sets vanilla and amber on cedar and patchouli. Olibanum adds a slightly smoky warmth. Where Miracle stayed spicy and bright, Miracle Forever turns more gourmand and nocturnal. It points toward the powdery orientals that would multiply in the 2010s.
