Our take
What does Nuit de Feu smell like?
Louis Vuitton released Nuit de Feu in 2020, following Ombre Nomade and Les Sables Roses. It is the house’s third perfume inspired by the Middle East and its scent traditions. Jacques Cavallier Belletrud, the in-house perfumer, conceived it as a tribute to incense. The rollout was planned to start in the Middle East in spring before reaching the rest of the world in July. Incense opens and never leaves the skin. It is dry and mineral, like smoke in a stone church. An infusion of natural leather follows and makes it more supple. Oud wood settles in the base, smoky and slightly animal, held up by a powerful musk accord. The structure is short and easy to read. It projects strongly and lasts through an evening. Next to Ombre Nomade, which centers on oud with more fruit, Nuit de Feu is drier and more mineral.
