Our take
What does For Him Bleu Noir smell like?
Narciso Rodriguez added Bleu Noir to the For Him line in 2015, first as an eau de toilette. It sits in the aromatic fougère family, yet its heart stays loyal to the house obsession, which is musk. The opening smells of freshly grated nutmeg and cardamom. It feels dry and a little cool. Then the musk arrives, clean as a pressed sheet. Cedar and ebony darken the base. Vetiver draws an earthy line underneath while amber adds warmth without any sugar. An eau de parfum followed later. It starts on bergamot and black pepper before settling into the same pairing of musk and wood. On skin it reads less like a fougère and more like a well-cut dark shirt. Next to Bleu de Chanel, which is brighter and louder, Bleu Noir holds back. You mostly smell it up close. That is both its charm and its limit.
When to wear it
An office scent for any month, though it shines in autumn. Use three sprays on the chest and neck since projection stays modest.
It belongs to the Fougère, Aromatic family. For Him Bleu Noir is one of 13 creations by Narciso Rodriguez in our encyclopedia.
