Our take
What does Candy Night smell like?
Prada introduced Candy Night in spring 2019. It is the after-dark version of Candy, Daniela Andrier's 2011 caramel. No perfumer was announced for this flanker. The opening is surprisingly fresh. Neroli and bitter orange cut against a powdery, slightly cold iris. Then the sugar arrives. Tonka, caramel and vanilla point straight back to the original. The base adds chocolate and patchouli, which darken the whole thing. It moves from sweet shop to restaurant dessert. Next to Candy, the caramel feels less burnt and more chocolatey. Black Opium wearers will find another take on the evening gourmand here, minus the coffee. Patchouli just about keeps it from cloying. It remains very sweet and is best left to fans of the genre. The iris in the opening is still worth smelling, even if it vanishes fast. Wear it on clothes and it lasts well into the night.
