Our take
What does Mademoiselle Rochas Eau de Parfum smell like?
Anne Flipo composed this eau de parfum for Rochas in 2017. The top is its best moment. Red fruits, redcurrant and blackcurrant, burst over a caramelised apple that recalls the toffee apples sold at funfairs. An ivy leaf, green and a touch bitter, cuts the sugar just in time. The heart goes back to more classic flowers. Rose leads, joined by Egyptian jasmine and a powdery violet. The base is well-behaved: sandalwood and amber, with a Chantilly-style musk that is soft and faintly powdery. It is sweeter than the fruity florals of the 2000s yet far lighter than La Vie est Belle. Longevity is decent, nothing more. The eau de toilette that followed has a different set of notes and should not be confused with this one.
