Our take
What does Mademoiselle Azzaro L'Eau Très Belle smell like?
Azzaro spun Mademoiselle Azzaro into L'Eau Très Belle in 2017, aimed at a younger crowd. Karine Dubreuil composed this eau de toilette. It opens on a berry salad of blueberry and red fruit, with orange and grapefruit to keep things sparkling. The heart brings peach and a fresh rose. Hawthorn and jasmine give it a green spring feel. The base fully embraces the bakery. A macaron accord meets caramel and vanilla. Violet adds a powdery touch and sandalwood softens the finish. Like Guerlain's La Petite Robe Noire, it plays the tea-room gourmand. It just does so with more fruit and a lighter hand. The sugar stays from start to finish. If you want pure freshness, look elsewhere. The violet in the base is the most interesting part. It adds a lipstick edge that stops the macaron from going flat.
