Our take
What does Eau de Sisley 2 smell like?
Sisley introduced a trio of numbered eaux de toilette in May 2009, and Eau de Sisley 2 is the woody floral one. The house described it as a dress of white flowers. That's not what you smell first. The opening is brisk and almost masculine, with bergamot, cardamom and a basil that doesn't show on every skin. On paper, the formula reads like a men's scent with flowers added. The heart softens into watery iris, Egyptian jasmine, cyclamen and rose. Those flowers stay sheer, like a watercolour. Then the base arrives, and it means business. Patchouli, vetiver, cedar and sandalwood build a dark and very tenacious foundation. On some skins a flat synthetic musk settles in for the day. Less classical than Eau du Soir, the house's great chypre, it was aimed at a younger crowd.
When to wear it
An office scent for spring and autumn. One spray is enough, since the woody base lasts all day.
It belongs to the Floral, Woody family. Eau de Sisley 2 is one of 9 creations by Sisley in our encyclopedia.
