Our take
What does Eau de Sisley 1 smell like?
Sisley released Eau de Sisley 1 in April 2009 alongside two siblings numbered 2 and 3. All three eaux de toilette were designed as chypre colognes, lighter than the house's historic perfumes. Number 1 starts on citrus. Mandarin and grapefruit give a bitter zest, lifted by pink berries and fine spices. The heart is green and watery. A very sheer water jasmine pairs with green tea and a juniper berry that recalls gin. The base stays restrained, with a chypre accord, light patchouli and clean musk. This is far from the heavy moss of classic chypres. Next to Eau du Soir, the big Sisley chypre launched in 1990, Eau de Sisley 1 reads almost like a summer version that is brighter and far less persistent. Its modest staying power means reapplying after lunch.
When to wear it
For spring and summer, at the office or during the day. Spray it generously on skin and hair since it fades within a few hours.
It belongs to the Chypre, Green family. Eau de Sisley 1 is one of 9 creations by Sisley in our encyclopedia.
