Our take
What does Izia smell like?
Izia arrived at Sisley in 2017. Amandine Clerc-Marie composed it around what the house calls the d'Ornano rose, named after the founding family. It opens bright. Aldehydes give a clean-laundry effect while bergamot and pink pepper add some bite. The rose follows, fresh and barely sweet. It smells like a flower cut in the morning rather than rose jam. A transparent floral accord keeps it company, along with slightly earthy angelica. The base stays sober with cedar, musk and a touch of amber. Nothing heavy, nothing gourmand. Next to Frédéric Malle's Portrait of a Lady, another famous rose, Izia feels very light and much more classical. It is a well-made perfume that plays polished elegance without trying to surprise anyone.
When to wear it
A daytime scent that works at the office in spring and autumn. Longevity is average, so plan a top-up in late afternoon.
It belongs to the Floral family. Izia is one of 9 creations by Sisley in our encyclopedia.
