Our take
What does My Burberry smell like?
My Burberry was born in 2014, composed by Francis Kurkdjian, with Cara Delevingne and Kate Moss as its faces. The idea was to turn the house trench coat and a London garden after rain into a smell. The cap even carries a knotted gabardine bow. The opening pairs bergamot with sweet pea and freesia. It is fresh and slightly damp, like wet flowers. The heart is more original. Golden quince adds a tart, waxy fruit and geranium leaf a green, faintly minty note. Damask and centifolia roses then take over, with watery notes that keep the rainy feel. The base stands on a single pillar: patchouli. It is clean and not very earthy, closer to a dusting of cocoa than to damp soil. Next to Chloé, another powdery rose of those years, My Burberry reads greener and less soapy.
