Our take
What does So Pretty smell like?
So Pretty arrived at Cartier in 1995, composed by Jean Guichard. The house was coming off a decade defined by Must de Cartier and Panthère. This new scent went for freshness instead. Peach and mandarin open on a juicy note that bergamot and neroli quickly clean up. A green thread runs through the whole wear. The heart lines up jasmine, rose and lily of the valley around an iris that adds a powdery touch. Nothing shouts. The flowers balance each other and none of them wins. The base rests on cedar, sandalwood and vetiver, with soft vanilla to warm the skin. Next to Must de Cartier, a heavier and sweeter oriental, So Pretty feels airy. It is a grown-up floral, more elegant than cute despite the name. These days it is hard to find outside discount sites.
When to wear it
A daytime floral that works at the office and at a wedding. Two sprays are enough, and it lasts well for a fresh floral.
It belongs to the Floral, Green family. So Pretty is one of 15 creations by Cartier in our encyclopedia.
