Our take
What does Nomade smell like?
Chloé launched Nomade in February 2018, composed by Quentin Bisch at Givaudan. The house sums it up in three notes: mirabelle plum, freesia and oakmoss. This is a fruity chypre that brings Mitsouko to mind, redrawn in brighter lines. Mirabelle opens with golden, slightly tart flesh, and citrus makes it livelier. Freesia follows with a fresh, peppery feel. Peach, rose and jasmine surround it without crowding. None of it is very sweet. The base is where the character lives. Oakmoss brings the smell of humus and wet bark, backed by patchouli, while amberwood and sandalwood warm things up. Musk rounds off the edges. Nomade wears far more easily than most classic chypres without losing their depth. Don't confuse it with the later eau de toilette, which opens on lychee.
When to wear it
An in-between-season scent for office days and weekends, ideal if old-school chypres feel too stern.
It belongs to the Floral, Chypre family. Nomade is one of 12 creations by Chloé in our encyclopedia.
