Our take
What does Dolce Peony smell like?
Dolce & Gabbana added Dolce Peony to the Dolce line in spring 2019, a year after Dolce Garden. Christophe Raynaud composed it. Fruit leads the way. Crisp nashi pear meets bergamot and a watery cyclamen, and a pinch of pink pepper stops the opening from going syrupy. Then the peony shows up, fresh and slightly powdery. Bulgarian rose and freesia sit around it without stealing the spotlight. The base is where the character lives. Mirabelle plum nectar and a little honey make it golden and almost candied. Ambroxan and patchouli hold the structure while creamy sandalwood rounds off the edges. Compared with the original Dolce from 2014, which smells whiter and milkier, Dolce Peony is clearly the fruitier sibling. The family resemblance shows mostly in the soft, sweet trail. The bottle helps too, with its soft purple cap and grosgrain ribbon.
When to wear it
A daytime fruity floral for the office or a mild weekend. Three sprays are plenty, as the honeyed plum spreads on warm skin.
It belongs to the Floral, Fruity family. Dolce Peony is one of 26 creations by Dolce & Gabbana in our encyclopedia.
