Our take
What does La Nuit Trésor à la Folie smell like?
Lancôme spun La Nuit Trésor into La Nuit Trésor à la Folie in 2018. Christophe Raynaud and Amandine Clerc-Marie, who wrote the 2015 original, worked this time with Honorine Blanc. The opening is fruity and prickly. Pink pepper, bergamot, pear and redcurrant give it a tart sparkle. The heart is a Damask rose backed by jasmine and peony. A powdery violet adds a candy touch. The base is where it gets generous. Bourbon vanilla, benzoin and tonka make a warm cloud, while patchouli and ambroxan stop it from turning mushy. It ends up brighter and rosier than La Nuit Trésor, which leaned on praline and incense. Both are evening scents. Compared with La Vie est Belle from the same house, it's less sugary at first but just as vanillic at the end. Save it for winter nights out.
When to wear it
For evenings and dates in cold weather. One or two sprays, no more, because the vanilla base carries far.
It belongs to the Floral, Oriental / Amber family. La Nuit Trésor à la Folie is one of 25 creations by Lancôme in our encyclopedia.
