Our take
What does Scandal à Paris smell like?
Jean Paul Gaultier launched Scandal à Paris in 2019, two years after the original Scandal. It is an eau de toilette by Daphné Bugey. The pyramid has three notes. Pear opens, ripe and juicy, with an almost watery freshness. Jasmine follows, bright and never heavy. It smells of sun-warmed petals rather than of a white flower at night. Honey, the thread that ties the whole line together, carries the base. It stays lighter here than in the first Scandal. There is no beeswax thickness, just a golden trace on the skin. On paper it is a fruity chypre, but the moss is shy and the result leans toward fruity floral. The bottle keeps the upside-down legs of the line. Next to the Scandal eau de parfum, thicker with gardenia and patchouli, this version is lighter and more summery.
When to wear it
A daytime take that suits summer and bare arms. Use three sprays because the eau de toilette fades faster.
It belongs to the Chypre, Fruity family. Scandal à Paris is one of 22 creations by Jean Paul Gaultier in our encyclopedia.
