Our take
What does Idôle Aura smell like?
Lancôme introduced Idôle Aura in 2021, two years after Idôle. The three perfumers behind the original composed this version too: Shyamala Maisondieu, Adriana Medina-Baez and Nadège Le Garlantezec. Lancôme likes to point out that they come from three continents. Rose is still at the center. Two of them, in fact: Damascena from Isparta and Centifolia from Grasse, one fruity and the other more honeyed. The heart adds white jasmine, with a streak of bergamot to keep it bright. The base is what sets Aura apart. Salted vanilla settles in with a clean musk, and heliotrope brings its powdery almond scent. The salt stops the sugar from turning cloying, which is the smart move here. Compared with Idôle, which is drier and muskier, Aura is warmer and more gourmand. The first minutes lack personality, but the drydown delivers. It lasts well on clothes.
When to wear it
