Our take
What does Lady Emblem smell like?
Lady Emblem arrived in 2015 as the women’s counterpart to Emblem, released for men a year earlier. The pink bottle is faceted like a cut stone. The opening is the most original part. A sake note, faintly milky and rice-like, mixes with pink grapefruit and pink pepper. It feels fresh and fizzy with a little tartness. The heart turns more classic. Jasmine and rose share the stage while pomegranate adds juicy red fruit. The base relies on sandalwood, amber and crystalline musks. It stays clean and light, far from the mossy chypres of the past. Miss Dior from 2012 is another rosy fruity chypre. Lady Emblem feels simpler and tangier, with less patchouli and more fruit. Longevity is reasonable for the price. A good purchase, if not an ambitious one.
When to wear it
