Our take
What does Patchouli N'Roses smell like?
Reminiscence is a French house known for its 1970s patchouli. In 2016 it released Patchouli N'Roses, a floral chypre by Fabrice Pellegrin. The idea is simple: pair roses with the brand's signature patchouli. It opens on rose oxide, a slightly metallic note that smells like a crushed petal. Damask rose follows, fresh and a little lemony. Centifolia rose fills the heart with honey and volume. The house places musk at this stage, which gives the bouquet a fruity softness. Some noses pick up an apricot that is not on the list. The base brings back a cleaned up patchouli with pale cedar and a hint of vanilla. Narciso Rodriguez for Her made the rose and patchouli duo famous in the early 2000s. Patchouli N'Roses keeps that polish but smells less of laundry musk. It stays earthier and rounder.
When to wear it
