Our take
What does Quatre en Bleu smell like?
Boucheron gave its Quatre line a blue edition in 2021, echoing the house's Quatre Blue jewellery collection. Sonia Constant of Givaudan composed this women's eau de parfum. Bergamot, lemon and mandarin open it. The effect is crisp and fizzy with no bitterness. The heart moves into white flowers: Egyptian jasmine, tuberose and rose. Tuberose is kept on a short leash, so you get its creaminess without the headache. In the base, Akigalawood adds a dry, peppery take on patchouli. Sandalwood and musk round it off and leave a clean skin finish. All of this sits in the floral woody musk family, which is a crowded room. Next to Gucci Bloom, another tuberose and jasmine pairing, Quatre en Bleu feels fresher thanks to its citrus and less creamy overall. What it lacks is one idea that would set it apart from the many white florals on the shelf.
When to wear it
An easy floral for spring and summer, for daytime or the office. Two sprays on the nape are enough, though it wears thin on dry skin.
It belongs to the Floral, Woody, Musky family. Quatre en Bleu is one of 18 creations by Boucheron in our encyclopedia.
