Our take
What does Sheer Beauty smell like?
Announced in autumn 2011, Sheer Beauty came out in January 2012 as the light companion to Beauty, the Calvin Klein floral launched in 2010. The press release called it sparkling and carefree. The opening follows through with a peach Bellini accord, red berries and a tart bergamot. It smells more like a brunch cocktail than fruit off the tree. The peach is soft and fizzy, never syrupy. The heart moves to peony, jasmine and a pink lily accord. That lily recalls Beauty in watered-down form. The base is soft and fairly brief: musk, creamy sandalwood and vanilla blossom. Lasting power is modest. Nothing here is unpleasant. Beauty bet on a big, almost solemn white lily. Sheer Beauty goes for lightness, at the risk of blending into the crowd of fruity florals from that period.
When to wear it
A summer daytime scent for the office or a holiday. Three sprays aren't too many, since it stays close to the skin.
It belongs to the Floral, Fruity family. Sheer Beauty is one of 24 creations by Calvin Klein in our encyclopedia.
