Our take
What does Wild Rose smell like?
Wild Rose reached Coach counters in 2022 as an eau de parfum composed by Marie Salamagne. The New York brand's idea was a wild rose picked by a footpath rather than in a formal garden. The opening plays on red currant. Sour and almost crunchy, it is lit up by clean bergamot. The heart pairs rose with jasmine sambac. The rose stays fresh and a little green, nowhere near the jammy oriental roses. The base aims for warm and woody. Coach mentions a crystal moss accord and a soft ambroxan, with tonka rounding things off. What you mostly smell is clean, slightly ambery skin. Some buyers say they get little rose and a lot of powder. Compared with the 2008 Chloé, another widely worn daytime rose, Wild Rose is less powdery at first and fruitier. Longevity is a weak spot.
