Our take
What does Guilty Intense smell like?
A year after Gucci Guilty, the Florentine house released an Intense version in 2011. Aurélien Guichard is credited with the formula. The structure stays close to the original. Mandarin and pink pepper open with a slightly peppery fizz. The heart combines lilac, violet and heliotrope. Together they form a powdery, almost cosmetic floral that recalls lipstick. Heliotrope slips in an almond nuance. The real difference lies in the base. Amber and patchouli play a bigger role than in the 2010 Guilty, so the scent gains body. It turns darker and a touch sweeter. If you found the original too thin, this one fixes that. If not, you may find it heavy. It is often compared to Lolita Lempicka for its blend of violet and sweetness, minus the anise. Newer releases with a similar name use a different formula.
When to wear it
Keep it for winter evenings. One or two sprays, since the patchouli takes over quickly.
It belongs to the Floral, Oriental / Amber family. Guilty Intense is one of 16 creations by Gucci in our encyclopedia.
