Our take
What does Les Sorbets de Luna smell like?
Nina Ricci released Les Sorbets de Luna in February 2019, a limited summer edition in a trio inspired by frozen desserts. Fabrice Pellegrin is credited with the formula. It is a spin on Luna, the house's fruity feminine from 2016. The opening smells of cold nashi pear, juicy and almost watery. Bergamot adds a sharp edge like the zest in a lemon sorbet. The heart moves to peony, magnolia and jasmine. These are pale, light flowers with no indole at all. The base is just clean musk and very soft cedar. Everything stays sheer, like a holiday body mist. The pear is the only note you remember an hour later. It recalls Marc Jacobs' Daisy in its fruity floral register, only more watery and less tenacious. Teenagers will like it. Everyone else will find the sorbet melts too fast.
When to wear it
For summer, the beach or a day in town. Spray freely, since it evaporates within two hours.
