What does Luna Rossa Black smell like?
Prada launched Luna Rossa Black in 2018 as the evening take on its sailing-inspired men's line. Daniela Andrier, the house perfumer, wrote the formula. Bergamot meets angelica in the opening. The angelica adds a green, slightly peppery note that keeps it clear of generic lemon. Then comes the pair that carries the whole thing: patchouli and coumarin. The patchouli is clean and dusted off. Coumarin smells of dry hay and almond, with the warmth you want from an evening eau de parfum. The base lays down amber wood and a fairly wild musk. At moments it reads like a pared-back modern fougère. Next to Dior Homme Intense, another warm and powdery men's scent, Luna Rossa Black has less iris and more sweetness. It is also far cheaper. This is one of the most accomplished entries in the Luna Rossa line.
When to wear it
An autumn and winter scent for evenings, dates or the office on cold days. Two sprays are enough and it lasts through most of the day.
