Our take
What does Anaïs Anaïs Premier Délice smell like?
Cacharel reworked Anaïs Anaïs in 2014 with Premier Délice. Olivier Cresp and Dora Baghriche, both at Firmenich, composed it. It was the first real break from the 1978 original, a powdery white floral. Here chocolate comes first. The opening is fruity and crisp with pear, bergamot and a sweet orange. A green streak of galbanum keeps the family resemblance. The heart holds on to the hyacinth that Anaïs Anaïs is known for, with peony added. The flowers are present but muted, like an old family photo at the back of a drawer. The base is what changes everything. Powdery cocoa coats a dry cedar wood without tipping into cake. The sweetness stays moderate. Next to Angel or Lolita Lempicka, Premier Délice is a very light, almost shy gourmand. Pleasant, honest work.
