Our take
What does Girl of Now smell like?
Elie Saab launched Girl of Now in 2017, with a name aimed squarely at a younger crowd. Dominique Ropion and Sophie Labbé composed a floral gourmand built on an unusual note: roasted pistachio. It arrives up front with juicy pear and a streak of mandarin. The heart stays in the sweet shop. Almond meets orange blossom, the house signature, alongside a lemony magnolia. The base relies on almond milk and tonka. Cashmeran, the woody musk that smells like warm wool, wraps around them. Patchouli holds everything together and stops it turning into candy. La Vie est Belle comes to mind for the pear and patchouli pairing. Girl of Now feels milkier and less powdery, though. The pistachio stays recognisable well into the evening, which is enough to set it apart from the crowd of gourmands released that year.
When to wear it
A spring and autumn gourmand for weekends and dinners with friends. Two sprays do the job, and it holds well on clothes.
It belongs to the Floral, Gourmand family. Girl of Now is one of 11 creations by Elie Saab in our encyclopedia.
