Our take
What does Boucheron Fleurs smell like?
Thirty years after the 1988 Boucheron for women, the Place Vendôme jeweller released Boucheron Fleurs in 2019. Quentin Bisch and Nathalie Gracia-Cetto composed it. The stated goal was a more transparent take on the original floriental, which many now find dated. Citron and pear open fresh and slightly juicy. In the heart, orange blossom pairs with creamy frangipani and with Petalia, a molecule that mimics a fresh petal. The base keeps things simple with vanilla and benzoin. A resinous edge warms the skin without weighing it down. The 1988 Boucheron is loud and spicy, so Fleurs feels lighter and more modern by comparison. It also gives up some of the original’s character. The pear vanishes quickly. Orange blossom is then left alone in front, clean and slightly soapy. We find it easier to wear at the office than the original.
