Our take
What does Cherry in Japan smell like?
Escada released Cherry in Japan in spring 2022, carrying on its tradition of summer limited editions. Honorine Blanc composed it. The idea starts from the cherry blossoms in Tokyo's Sumida Park and from a house bestseller, Cherry in the Air. Escada claims 86 percent natural ingredients. The pyramid fits on three lines. A sparkling cherry accord opens things up, sweet and juicy, more fruit than flower. Jasmine petals drift through next, quietly, to keep it from tasting like syrup. Tonka closes with a soft, slightly almondy warmth. It's simple and cheerful. Nobody will mistake it for a serious floral, and it doesn't try to be one. Next to the now discontinued Cherry in the Air it feels lighter and less cozy. You also have to accept short longevity. Unscented lotion applied first helps it hang on.
