Our take
What does La Fille de l'Air smell like?
Courrèges launched La Fille de l'Air in March 2015. It was first sold on board Air France flights before reaching shops a few weeks later. Fabrice Pellegrin composed it. The name plays on a French idiom for slipping away unnoticed, and on the airline tie-in. Bergamot and neroli open with a morning brightness. The heart revolves around orange blossom paired with a neoprene accord. That is a nod to the vinyl and technical fabrics of Courrèges fashion in the 1960s. On skin it reads as a clean white flower with a faint rubbery edge, and it is quite original. The base is white musk and Ambroxan, with a discreet cedar. It smells more like freshly washed skin than perfume. L'Eau d'Issey comes to mind for that airy cleanliness, but La Fille de l'Air is more floral and less watery. It stays close to the skin, which disappoints if you want a trail.
